9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 161, Health and Safety |

11 | 11 | | Code, is amended by adding Section 161.0086 to read as follows: |

12 | 12 | | Sec. 161.0086. PROHIBITED RECEIPT OF STATE MONEY BY CERTAIN |
---|
13 | 13 | | BUSINESSES. (a) In this section, "COVID-19" means the 2019 novel |
---|
14 | 14 | | coronavirus disease. |
---|
15 | 15 | | (b) A business in this state that requires the business's |
---|
16 | 16 | | customers, employees, vendors, or contractors to be vaccinated |
---|
17 | 17 | | against COVID-19 is not eligible to receive state grant money or |
---|
18 | 18 | | enter into a contract payable with state money. |
---|
19 | 19 | | SECTION 2. Section 161.0086, Health and Safety Code, as |
---|
20 | 20 | | added by this Act, applies only to a state grant awarded to or a |
---|
21 | 21 | | contract entered into by a business in this state on or after the |
---|
22 | 22 | | effective date of this Act. |
---|
23 | 23 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
