66 AN ACT
77 relating to a prohibition on receipt of state money by businesses
88 that implement COVID-19 vaccination requirements.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 161, Health and Safety
1111 Code, is amended by adding Section 161.0086 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 161.0086. PROHIBITED RECEIPT OF STATE MONEY BY CERTAIN
1313 BUSINESSES. (a) In this section, "COVID-19" means the 2019 novel
1414 coronavirus disease.
1515 (b) A business in this state that requires the business's
1616 customers, employees, vendors, or contractors to be vaccinated
1717 against COVID-19 is not eligible to receive state grant money or
1818 enter into a contract payable with state money.
1919 SECTION 2. Section 161.0086, Health and Safety Code, as
2020 added by this Act, applies only to a state grant awarded to or a
2121 contract entered into by a business in this state on or after the
2222 effective date of this Act.
2323 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
