| 7 | 7 | | relating to voter registration application forms in high schools. |

| 8 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 9 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Section 13.046(h), Election Code, is amended to |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | read as follows: |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | (h) The secretary of state shall: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (1) consult with the Texas Education Agency regarding |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the number of registration application forms to provide to each |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | high school; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (2) provide to each high school registration |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | application forms once each fall and spring semester in the number |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | determined from the consultation under Subdivision (1); and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (3) prescribe any additional procedures necessary to |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | implement this section. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2023-2024 |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | school year. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
