| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 392, Local Government |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Code, is amended by adding Section 392.068 to read as follows: |

| 12 | 12 | | Sec. 392.068. PROGRAM FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF CERTAIN RESIDENT |

| 13 | 13 | | EXPENSES. A housing authority shall adopt a program that uses any |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | available funds to reimburse residents of the authority's housing |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | facilities for medication or medical equipment that was: |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (1) partially or fully paid for by or provided through |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | a governmental assistance program, including Medicare or Medicaid; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (2) damaged or destroyed as the result of a disaster, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | including an extended power outage. |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
