| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 504.403, Transportation Code, as amended |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | by Chapter 1296 (H.B. 2357), Acts of the 82nd Legislature, Regular |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Session, 2011, and repealed by Chapter 1290 (H.B. 2017), Acts of the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 82nd Legislature, Regular Session, 2011, is reenacted and amended |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | to read as follows: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Sec. 504.403. STATE AND FEDERAL JUDGES. (a) The department |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | shall issue specialty license plates for a current or visiting |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | state or federal judge. The license plates must include the words |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | "State Judge" or "U.S. Judge," as appropriate. |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (b) [(d)] In this section, "state [: |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | [(2) "State] judge" means: |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (A) a justice of the supreme court; |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (B) a judge of the court of criminal appeals; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (C) a judge of a court of appeals of this state; |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (D) a district court judge; |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (E) a presiding judge of an administrative |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | judicial district; [or] |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | (F) a statutory county court judge; or |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | (G) a justice of the peace. |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
