7 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

8 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter H, Chapter 201, Transportation Code, |
---|
9 | 9 | | is amended by adding Section 201.625 to read as follows: |

10 | 10 | | Sec. 201.625. TRAILER ATTACHMENT CAMPAIGN. (a) In this |
---|
11 | 11 | | section, "passenger car" has the meaning assigned by Section |
---|
12 | 12 | | 541.201. |
---|
13 | 13 | | (b) The department shall develop and implement a public |
---|
14 | 14 | | awareness campaign to promote the proper attachment of a trailer to |
---|
15 | 15 | | a passenger car and raise awareness regarding the potential |
---|
16 | 16 | | consequences of failing to attach a trailer properly. |
---|
17 | 17 | | (c) In implementing the campaign, the department may engage |
---|
18 | 18 | | in online advocacy, issue public service announcements, and |
---|
19 | 19 | | distribute materials relating to the campaign. |
---|
20 | 20 | | (d) The department may pay the costs of the campaign and its |
---|
21 | 21 | | administration from: |
---|
22 | 22 | | (1) gifts, grants, or donations; |
---|
23 | 23 | | (2) matching funds; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | (3) other funds made available for that purpose, |
---|
25 | 25 | | including available department revenue. |
---|
26 | 26 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
