77 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
88 SECTION 1. Subchapter H, Chapter 201, Transportation Code,
99 is amended by adding Section 201.625 to read as follows:
1010 Sec. 201.625. TRAILER ATTACHMENT CAMPAIGN. (a) In this
1111 section, "passenger car" has the meaning assigned by Section
1212 541.201.
1313 (b) The department shall develop and implement a public
1414 awareness campaign to promote the proper attachment of a trailer to
1515 a passenger car and raise awareness regarding the potential
1616 consequences of failing to attach a trailer properly.
1717 (c) In implementing the campaign, the department may engage
1818 in online advocacy, issue public service announcements, and
1919 distribute materials relating to the campaign.
2020 (d) The department may pay the costs of the campaign and its
2121 administration from:
2222 (1) gifts, grants, or donations;
2323 (2) matching funds; and
2424 (3) other funds made available for that purpose,
2525 including available department revenue.
2626 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
