55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to continuing education for barbers and cosmetologists on
88 identifying and assisting victims of sexual assault, domestic
99 violence, and human trafficking.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Subchapter G, Chapter 1603, Occupations Code, is
1212 amended by adding Section 1603.302 to read as follows:
1313 Sec. 1603.302. CONTINUING EDUCATION REGARDING SEXUAL
1414 ASSAULT, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING. The commission
1515 shall adopt rules requiring a license holder to complete continuing
1616 education on identifying and assisting victims of:
1717 (1) sexual assault;
1818 (2) domestic violence; and
1919 (3) human trafficking.
2020 SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date
2121 of this Act, the Texas Commission of Licensing and Regulation shall
2222 adopt the rules required by Section 1603.302, Occupations Code, as
2323 added by this Act.
2424 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
