77 AN ACT
88 relating to daylight saving time.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 312.016, Government Code, is amended by
1111 adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
1212 (d) This state, acting as authorized under federal law,
1313 shall observe daylight saving time year-round. This subsection
1414 applies to both the portion of this state using central standard
1515 time as the official standard time and the portion of this state
1616 using mountain standard time as the official standard time.
1717 SECTION 2. (a) Except as otherwise provided by this
1818 section, this Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
1919 (b) This Act takes effect only if the United States Congress
2020 enacts legislation that becomes law that authorizes the State of
2121 Texas to observe daylight saving time year-round. If the United
2222 States Congress does not enact legislation that becomes law
2323 described by this subsection, this Act has no effect.
