| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 312.016, Government Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: |

| 12 | 12 | | (d) This state, acting as authorized under federal law, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | shall observe daylight saving time year-round. This subsection |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | applies to both the portion of this state using central standard |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | time as the official standard time and the portion of this state |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | using mountain standard time as the official standard time. |

| 17 | 17 | | SECTION 2. (a) Except as otherwise provided by this |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | section, this Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (b) This Act takes effect only if the United States Congress |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | enacts legislation that becomes law that authorizes the State of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Texas to observe daylight saving time year-round. If the United |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | States Congress does not enact legislation that becomes law |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | described by this subsection, this Act has no effect. |
