| 7 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 8 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Section 681.008(a), Transportation Code, is |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Sec. 681.008. PARKING PRIVILEGES: CERTAIN VETERANS AND |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | MILITARY AWARD RECIPIENTS. (a) A vehicle may be parked for an |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | unlimited period in a parking space or area that is designated |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | specifically for persons with physical disabilities if: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (1) the vehicle: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (A) displays special license plates issued under |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Section 504.202(b-1); and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (B) is being operated by or for the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | transportation of the person to whom the plates were issued; or |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (2) the vehicle displays license plates issued by any |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | [another] state of the United States that indicate on the face of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | the license plates that the owner or operator of the vehicle is a |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | disabled veteran of the United States armed forces. |

| 23 | 23 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
