55 relating to the use of a facsimile signature on certain public

77 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
88 SECTION 1. Section 618.003, Government Code, is amended to
99 read as follows:
1010 Sec. 618.003. AUTHORITY FOR FACSIMILE SIGNATURE. (a) An
1111 [Except as provided by Section 618.004, an] authorized officer may
1212 execute, authenticate, certify, or endorse or authorize to be
1313 executed, authenticated, certified, or endorsed with the officer's
1414 facsimile signature instead of the officer's manual signature:
1515 (1) a public security, instrument of payment, or
1616 certificate of assessment, if the use of the facsimile signature is
1717 authorized by the board, body, or officer empowered to authorize
1818 the issuance of the security, instrument, or certificate; or
1919 (2) an eligible contract, if the use of the facsimile
2020 signature is authorized by the governing body of the municipality.
2121 (b) A facsimile signature of the comptroller, or of a deputy
2222 designated in writing to act for the comptroller, may be placed on a
2323 public security required to be registered by the comptroller or a
2424 certificate on that security.
2525 SECTION 2. Section 618.004, Government Code, is repealed.
2626 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
