| 7 | 7 | | relating to the payment of certain employer contributions for |

| 8 | 8 | | employed retirees of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas. |

| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 825.4092, Government Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | adding Subsection (h) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (h) Notwithstanding any other provision of this section, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the amounts required to be paid under Subsections (b) and (c) are |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | not required to be paid by a reporting employer for a retiree who |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | retired from the retirement system on or after September 1, 2005, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | and is employed by the reporting employer during the 2023-2024 |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | school year or the 2024-2025 school year. This subsection expires |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | September 1, 2025. |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
