| 7 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 8 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Section 522.023(j), Transportation Code, is |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | (j) The department shall [may] administer a skills test to a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | person who holds a commercial learner's permit issued by another |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | state or jurisdiction. On completion, the department shall send |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the skills test results to the state or jurisdiction that issued the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | person's commercial learner's permit. |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
