| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. This Act may be cited as Rudy's Law. |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 2. The heading to Section 71.057, Agriculture Code, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | is amended to read as follows: |

| 13 | 13 | | Sec. 71.057. NURSERY DEALERS AND AGENTS; ANNUAL |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | REGISTRATION; REQUIRED WARNING TO CONSUMERS. |

| 15 | 15 | | SECTION 3. Section 71.057, Agriculture Code, is amended by |

| 16 | 16 | | adding Subsection (h) to read as follows: |

| 17 | 17 | | (h) A nursery dealer or nursery agent must include a written |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | statement upon the sale of any species of plant containing cycasin |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | warning the end user of the plant that the ingestion of the plant by |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | canids can be harmful or fatal. |

| 21 | 21 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
