55 relating to allowing school districts to make available certain
66 school safety training courses to employees of certain private
77 schools, child-care facilities, or organizations providing

99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 37, Education Code, is
1111 amended by adding Section 37.119 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 37.119. CERTAIN PRIVATE PROVIDER ACCESS TO SCHOOL
1313 SAFETY TRAINING. (a) In this section:
1414 (1) "Accredited private school" means a private school
1515 accredited by an organization recognized by the Texas Private
1616 School Accreditation Commission or the agency.
1717 (2) "Child-care facility" has the meaning assigned by
1818 Section 42.002, Human Resources Code.
1919 (3) "Organization providing out-of-school-time care"
2020 includes a faith-based organization, a before-school or
2121 after-school program, a summer camp, a Texas 4-H or other
2222 agricultural program, and a youth sports organization.
2323 (b) From money available for the purpose, a school district
2424 may make available at no cost school safety training courses,
2525 including active shooter training courses, approved under Section
2626 25.0815 and determined to be appropriate by the district's school
2727 safety and security committee established under Section 37.109, to
2828 employees of accredited private schools located in the district or
2929 child-care facilities or other organizations providing
3030 out-of-school-time care to children younger than 18 years of age
3131 who reside in the district.
3232 (c) The agency may solicit and accept gifts, grants, and
3333 donations from any public or private source to pay the cost of
3434 offering a school safety training course under this section.
3535 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
