55 AN ACT
66 relating to requiring the Department of Family and Protective
77 Services to notify certain individuals of changes to child abuse
88 and neglect investigation reports.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 261, Family Code, is
1111 amended by adding Section 261.3081 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 261.3081. NOTICE REGARDING CHANGES MADE BY DEPARTMENT
1313 TO INVESTIGATION REPORT. The department shall notify the following
1414 interested parties of any edits or corrections, other than edits or
1515 corrections to remedy spelling or grammatical errors, the
1616 department makes to the written report prepared by the department
1717 under Section 261.308:
1818 (1) the child's parent;
1919 (2) the attorney for the child's parent if represented
2020 by an attorney;
2121 (3) an attorney ad litem for the child appointed under
2222 Chapter 107;
2323 (4) a guardian ad litem for the child appointed under
2424 Chapter 107, including a volunteer advocate; and
2525 (5) any other person the court determines has an
2626 interest in the child's welfare.
2727 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
