7 | 7 | | relating to the extension of a driver's license suspension or |

8 | 8 | | disqualification following certain convictions. |

9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 521.343(c), Transportation Code, is |
---|
11 | 11 | | amended to read as follows: |
---|
12 | 12 | | (c) If the license holder is convicted of operating a motor |
---|
13 | 13 | | vehicle while the license to operate a motor vehicle is cancelled, |
---|
14 | 14 | | disqualified, suspended, revoked, or denied, the period is extended |
---|
15 | 15 | | for 90 days [the same term as the original suspension or |
---|
16 | 16 | | disqualification], in addition to any penalty assessed under this |
---|
17 | 17 | | chapter or Chapter 522. |
---|
18 | 18 | | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
---|
19 | 19 | | to a determination of suspension or disqualification made by the |
---|
20 | 20 | | Department of Public Safety on or after the effective date of this |
---|
21 | 21 | | Act. A determination made before the effective date of this Act is |
---|
22 | 22 | | governed by the law in effect when the determination was made, and |
---|
23 | 23 | | the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. |
---|
24 | 24 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
