5	5	AN ACT
6	6	relating to reimbursement for jury service.
7	7	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
8	8	SECTION 1. Section 61.001(a), Government Code, is amended
9	9	to read as follows:
10	10	(a) Except as provided by Subsection (c), a person who
11	11	reports for jury service in response to the process of a court is
12	12	entitled to receive as reimbursement for travel and other expenses
13	13	an amount:
14	14	(1) not less than $20 [$6] for the first day or
15	15	fraction of the first day the person is in attendance in court in
16	16	response to the process and discharges the person's duty for that
17	17	day; and
18	18	(2) not less than $58 [$40] for each day or fraction of
19	19	each day the person is in attendance in court in response to the
20	20	process after the first day and discharges the person's duty for
21	21	that day.
22	22	SECTION 2. Section 61.0015(a), Government Code, is amended
23	23	to read as follows:
24	24	(a) The state shall reimburse a county:
25	25	(1) $14 for the reimbursement paid under Section
26	26	61.001(a)(1) to a person who reports for jury service in response to
27	27	the process of a court for the first day or fraction of the first day
28	28	the person is in attendance in court in response to the process; and
29	29	(2) $52 [$34] a day for the reimbursement paid under
30	30	Section 61.001(a)(2) [61.001] to a person who reports for jury
31	31	service in response to the process of a court for each day or
32	32	fraction of each day after the first day in attendance in court in
33	33	response to the process.
34	34	SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
