| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter G, Chapter 56A, Code of Criminal |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Procedure, is amended by adding Article 56A.3031 to read as |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Art. 56A.3031. DELAYED REPORTING BY SEXUAL ASSAULT VICTIMS; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | COMPILATION OF STATISTICS. (a) In this article, "department" |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | means the Department of Public Safety. |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (b) The department shall compile and maintain statistics on |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the number of victims of sexual assault in each calendar year who |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | have reported the sexual assault to a law enforcement agency after |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | receiving a forensic medical examination under Article 56A.303, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | regardless of the year in which that examination was performed. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Statistics compiled and maintained under this subsection may not |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | include identifying information of a victim. |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (c) Not later than September 1 of each even-numbered year, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | the department shall: |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (1) report the statistics compiled by the department |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | under Subsection (b) to the standing committees of the house of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | representatives and senate with primary jurisdiction over criminal |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | justice issues; and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | (2) post the statistics compiled by the department |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | under Subsection (b) on the department's Internet website. |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
