| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 9.201, Family Code, is amended by adding |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Subsection (c) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (c) Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the court that rendered a final decree of divorce or annulment or |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | another final order dividing property under this title retains |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | continuing, exclusive jurisdiction to render an order under this |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | subchapter to divide property not divided or awarded to a spouse in |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the final decree. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | suit to divide property not divided or awarded to a spouse in a |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | final decree of divorce or annulment that is pending in a trial |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | court on the effective date of this Act or that is filed on or after |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | that date. |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
