55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the jurisdiction of a court in a suit to divide certain
88 property not divided or awarded on the dissolution of a marriage.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 9.201, Family Code, is amended by adding
1111 Subsection (c) to read as follows:
1212 (c) Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter,
1313 the court that rendered a final decree of divorce or annulment or
1414 another final order dividing property under this title retains
1515 continuing, exclusive jurisdiction to render an order under this
1616 subchapter to divide property not divided or awarded to a spouse in
1717 the final decree.
1818 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to a
1919 suit to divide property not divided or awarded to a spouse in a
2020 final decree of divorce or annulment that is pending in a trial
2121 court on the effective date of this Act or that is filed on or after
2222 that date.
2323 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
