44 AN ACT
55 relating to the continuation of spousal maintenance ordered under
66 certain circumstances.
77 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
88 SECTION 1. Section 8.054(d), Family Code, is amended to
99 read as follows:
1010 (d) The continuation of maintenance ordered under
1111 Subsection (b) is subject to the procedural requirements for a
1212 motion to modify as provided by Section 8.057.
1313 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to a
1414 motion to continue spousal maintenance under Subchapter B, Chapter
1515 8, Family Code, that is made on or after the effective date of this
1616 Act, regardless of whether the original spousal maintenance order
1717 was rendered before, on, or after that date.
1818 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1919 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2020 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2121 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2222 Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
