| 8 | 8 | | parking space designated as an electric vehicle charging station. |

| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 545.302(a), Transportation Code, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (a) An operator may not stop, stand, or park a vehicle: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | (1) on the roadway side of a vehicle stopped or parked |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | at the edge or curb of a street; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (2) on a sidewalk; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (3) in an intersection; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (4) on a crosswalk; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (5) between a safety zone and the adjacent curb or |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | within 30 feet of a place on the curb immediately opposite the ends |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | of a safety zone, unless the governing body of a municipality |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | designates a different length by signs or markings; |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (6) alongside or opposite a street excavation or |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | obstruction if stopping, standing, or parking the vehicle would |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | obstruct traffic; |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (7) on a bridge or other elevated structure on a |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | highway or in a highway tunnel; |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | (8) on a railroad track; [or] |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | (9) where an official sign prohibits stopping; or |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | (10) in a parking space or area that is clearly |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | designated as an electric vehicle charging station, unless the |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | operator is driving an electric vehicle, as defined by Section |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 382.003, Health and Safety Code. |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
