| 7 | 7 | | relating to the payment of a fee for the administration of a |

| 8 | 8 | | bilingual education certificate examination. |

| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 21, Education Code, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended by adding Section 21.04892 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Sec. 21.04892. FEES FOR BILINGUAL EDUCATION CERTIFICATE |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | EXAMINATIONS. For each person who takes an examination prescribed |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | under Section 21.048 for certification to teach in bilingual |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | education, including certification under Section 21.04891, the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | board shall, as applicable: |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (1) waive any fee assessed by the board for the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | administration of the examination; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (2) pay on behalf of the person to the vendor who |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | administers the examination any fee assessed by the vendor to the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | person for the administration of the examination. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
