| 7 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 8 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is |

| 9 | 9 | | amended by adding Section 662.085 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Sec. 662.085. COVID-19 HEROES AND MEMORIAL DAY. (a) March |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 4 is COVID-19 Heroes and Memorial Day in honor of people who lost |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | their lives to COVID-19 and in honor of health care workers, first |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | responders, and other essential workers who kept working during the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | COVID-19 pandemic so the public could stay safe. |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (b) COVID-19 Heroes and Memorial Day shall be regularly |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | observed by appropriate ceremonies and activities. |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
