77 relating to appropriations to historical foundations by certain
88 counties.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 318.021, Local Government Code, is
1111 amended to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 318.021. APPROPRIATIONS TO HISTORICAL FOUNDATIONS:
1313 CERTAIN COUNTIES. The commissioners court of a county with a
1414 population of 175,000 [239,000] to 825,000 may appropriate money
1515 from the general fund of the county to a historical foundation or
1616 organization in the county for the purpose of purchasing,
1717 constructing, restoring, preserving, maintaining, or
1818 reconstructing historical landmarks, buildings, and furnishings
1919 that are of historical significance to the county. The foundation
2020 or organization must be incorporated under the law of this state as
2121 a nonprofit corporation.
2222 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2323 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2424 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2525 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2626 Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
