77 relating to the eligibility of certain events for funding under the
88 major events reimbursement program.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 478.0001(3), Government Code, as amended
1111 by Chapters 10 (H.B. 1472), 102 (S.B. 1265), 605 (S.B. 1155), and
1212 915 (H.B. 3607), Acts of the 87th Legislature, Regular Session,
1313 2021, is reenacted and amended to read as follows:
1414 (3) "Event" means any of the following and includes
1515 any activity related to or associated with the following:
1616 (A) the Academy of Country Music Awards;
1717 (B) the Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympic

1919 (C) the Bassmaster Classic;

2525 (G) [(F)] the Confederation of North, Central
2626 America and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf) Gold Cup;
2727 (H) [(F)] a CONVRG conference;
2828 (I) [(G)] an Elite Rodeo Association World
2929 Championship;
3030 (J) a Federation Equestre Internationale World
3131 Cup Final;
3232 (K) a Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme
3333 (FIM) World Supercross Championship race;
3434 (L) the [(H) a] Formula One United States Grand
3535 Prix [automobile race];
3636 (M) [(I)] the largest event held each year at a
3737 sports entertainment venue in this state with a permanent seating
3838 capacity, including grandstand and premium seating, of at least

147147 SECTION 3. Section 478.0053, Government Code, is amended to
148148 read as follows:
149149 Sec. 478.0053. EXEMPTION FROM CERTAIN ELIGIBILITY
150150 REQUIREMENT FOR CERTAIN LARGE VENUES. Section 478.0051(b)(1) does
151151 not apply to an event described by Section 478.0001(3)(M)
152152 [478.0001(3)(H)]. If an endorsing municipality or endorsing county
153153 requests the office to make a determination under Section 478.0102
154154 for an event described by Section
155155 478.0001(3)(M) [478.0001(3)(H)], the remaining provisions of this
156156 chapter apply to that event as if the event satisfied the
157157 eligibility requirements under Section 478.0051(b)(1).
158158 SECTION 4. To the extent of any conflict, this Act prevails
159159 over another Act of the 88th Legislature, Regular Session, 2023,
160160 relating to nonsubstantive additions to and corrections in enacted
161161 codes.
162162 SECTION 5. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
