| 9 | 9 | | SECTION 1. The heading to Section 372.053, Transportation |

| 10 | 10 | | Code, is amended to read as follows: |

| 11 | 11 | | Sec. 372.053. [VETERAN] DISCOUNT PROGRAM. |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 2. Sections 372.053(a) and (a-1), Transportation |

| 13 | 13 | | Code, are amended to read as follows: |

| 14 | 14 | | (a) A toll project entity: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (1) may establish a discount program for electronic |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | toll collection customers; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (2) if the entity establishes a program under |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Subdivision (1), shall establish a process by which the entity |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | regularly updates electronic toll collection customer information |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | to ensure that a customer described by Subsection (a-1) is able to |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | receive free or discounted use of the entity's toll project. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (a-1) A program established under Subsection (a) must |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | include free or discounted use of the entity's toll project by an |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | electronic toll collection customer: |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (1) whose account relates to a vehicle registered |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | under Section 504.202 or 504.315(f) or (g); or |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | (2) who is 65 years of age or older. |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
