| 6 | 6 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 7 | 7 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is |

| 8 | 8 | | amended by adding Section 662.082 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Sec. 662.082. VANESSA GUILLÉN DAY. (a) September 30 is |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Vanessa Guillén Day in memory of the life and tragic death of |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Vanessa Guillén and to increase awareness of and the military's |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | response to missing persons, sexual assault, and sexual harassment |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | cases for service members. |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (b) Vanessa Guillén Day shall be regularly observed by |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | appropriate programs and activities. |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
