| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 130, Education Code, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended by adding Section 130.0107 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Sec. 130.0107. CREDIT FOR COMPLETION OF CHILD DEVELOPMENT |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | ASSOCIATE CREDENTIAL. In accordance with rules adopted by the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, a public junior college |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | shall award at least six semester credit hours or the equivalent to |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | a student enrolled in the junior college who holds a Child |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Development Associate (CDA) credential. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2023-2024 |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | academic year. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
