A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to a conveyance of real property subject to an unexpired
residential lease.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 92, Property Code, is
amended by adding Section 92.0092 to read as follows:
Sec. 92.0092. CONVEYANCE OF REAL PROPERTY SUBJECT TO
UNEXPIRED RESIDENTIAL LEASE. Except as otherwise provided by
federal law, if real property subject to an unexpired residential
lease is conveyed, the person to whom the property is conveyed
assumes the lease for the remainder of the lease term.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
