| 7 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 8 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter I, Chapter 391, Transportation Code, |

| 9 | 9 | | is amended by adding Section 391.2521 to read as follows: |

| 10 | 10 | | Sec. 391.2521. COUNTY APPROVAL FOR CERTAIN COMMERCIAL |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | SIGNS. (a) The commissioners court of a county by order may |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | require a person to obtain county approval for the construction or |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | reconstruction of a commercial sign located adjacent to and visible |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | from: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (1) Ranch-to-Market Road 12; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (2) Ranch-to-Market Road 150; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (3) Ranch-to-Market Road 967; or |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (4) Ranch-to-Market Road 1826. |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (b) The department may not issue a permit under this chapter |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | to an applicant who is required to obtain county approval under this |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | section unless the person has obtained the required county |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | approval. |

| 23 | 23 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
