| 8 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 9 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter G, Chapter 505, Occupations Code, is |

| 10 | 10 | | amended by adding Section 505.356 to read as follows: |

| 11 | 11 | | Sec. 505.356. ALTERNATIVES TO EXAMINATION. The executive |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | council by rule shall establish alternative methods, other than |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | examination, of examining the competency of an applicant for a |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | license under this chapter. |

| 15 | 15 | | SECTION 2. Not later than December 1, 2023, the Texas |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Behavioral Health Executive Council shall adopt the rules required |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | by Section 505.356, Occupations Code, as added by this Act. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
