| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Section 250.007(b), Local Government Code, is |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | (b) This section does not affect an ordinance or regulation |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | that prohibits the refusal to lease or rent a housing accommodation |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | to: |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (1) a military veteran because of the veteran's lawful |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | source of income to pay rent; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (2) a person who is 62 years of age or older because of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the person's lawful source of income to pay rent; or |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (3) a person who has a disability, as defined by the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (42 U.S.C. Section 12101 et |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | seq.), because of the person's lawful source of income to pay rent. |

| 23 | 23 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
