| 8 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 662, Government Code, is |

| 9 | 9 | | amended by adding Section 662.116 to read as follows: |

| 10 | 10 | | Sec. 662.116. FENTANYL POISONING AWARENESS MONTH. (a) |

| 11 | 11 | | October is Fentanyl Poisoning Awareness Month to increase awareness |

| 12 | 12 | | of the dangers of fentanyl and potential overdoses. |

| 13 | 13 | | (b) Fentanyl Poisoning Awareness Month may be regularly |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | observed through appropriate activities in communities to increase |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | awareness of the dangers of fentanyl and potential overdoses. |

| 16 | 16 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
