77 relating to the sunset review of local workforce development boards
88 in this state.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Chapter 325, Government Code, is amended by
1111 adding Section 325.026 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 325.026. LOCAL WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT BOARDS SUBJECT TO
1313 REVIEW. (a) A local workforce development board listed in
1414 Subsection (b) is subject to a limited review under this chapter as
1515 if it were a state agency but may not be abolished.
1616 (b) This section applies to:
1717 (1) Workforce Solutions Panhandle;
1818 (2) Workforce Solutions South Plains;
1919 (3) Workforce Solutions North Texas;
2020 (4) Workforce Solutions North Central Texas;
2121 (5) Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County;
2222 (6) Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas;
2323 (7) Workforce Solutions Northeast Texas;
2424 (8) Workforce Solutions East Texas;
2525 (9) Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas;
2626 (10) Workforce Solutions Borderplex;
2727 (11) Workforce Solutions Permian Basin;
2828 (12) Workforce Solutions Concho Valley;
2929 (13) Workforce Solutions for the Heart of Texas;
3030 (14) Workforce Solutions Capital Area;
3131 (15) Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area;
3232 (16) Workforce Solutions Brazos Valley;
3333 (17) Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas;
3434 (18) Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas;
3535 (19) Workforce Solutions Golden Crescent;
3636 (20) Workforce Solutions Alamo;
3737 (21) Workforce Solutions for South Texas;
3838 (22) Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend;
3939 (23) Workforce Solutions Lower Rio Grande Valley;
4040 (24) Workforce Solutions Cameron;
4141 (25) Workforce Solutions Texoma;
4242 (26) Workforce Solutions of Central Texas;
4343 (27) Workforce Solutions Middle Rio Grande; and
4444 (28) Workforce Solutions Gulf Coast.
4545 (c) The limited review under this chapter must assess each
4646 local workforce development board's:
4747 (1) governance;
4848 (2) management;
4949 (3) operating structure; and
5050 (4) compliance with the requirements of Subchapter G,
5151 Chapter 2308, or other law.
5252 (d) The commission shall conduct the limited review under
5353 this section as soon as practicable and shall review each local
5454 workforce development board listed in Subsection (b) in an order
5555 determined appropriate by the commission.
5656 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
5757 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
5858 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
5959 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
6060 Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
