| 7 | 7 | | relating to requiring commercial automobile insurance for |

| 8 | 8 | | responsible master plumbers. |

| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 1301.3576, Occupations Code, is amended |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Sec. 1301.3576. CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE FOR RESPONSIBLE |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | MASTER PLUMBER. Before a master plumber works as a responsible |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | master plumber, the master plumber must provide the board with: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (1) a certificate of insurance that meets the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | requirements of Section 1301.552; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (2) a certificate of insurance that: |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (A) is written by an insurer authorized to engage |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | in the business of insurance in this state; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (B) provides for commercial automobile insurance |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | for the responsible master plumber that provides liability coverage |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | for a claim for property damage or bodily injury or death in an |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | amount of not less than $500,000 per incident. |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | SECTION 2. Not later than December 1, 2023, the Texas State |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Board of Plumbing Examiners shall adopt rules necessary to |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | implement the changes in law made by this Act. |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | SECTION 3. Notwithstanding Section 1301.3576, Occupations |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Code, as amended by this Act, a responsible master plumber must |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | comply with that section, as amended, not later than January 1, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | 2024. |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
