| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 30.022, Education Code, is amended by | |
| 11 | 11 | adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (a-1) The governor shall appoint the chair from among the | |
| 13 | 13 | membership of the board. | |
| 14 | 14 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | |
| 15 | 15 | to the appointment of a chair of the governing board of the Texas | |
| 16 | 16 | School for the Blind and Visually Impaired for a term that begins on | |
| 17 | 17 | or after the effective date of this Act. | |
| 18 | 18 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
