5	5	relating to the designation of portions of the state highway system
6	6	as memorial highways for certain deceased peace officers.
7	7	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
8	8	SECTION 1. Section 225.092(a), Transportation Code, is
9	9	amended to read as follows:
10	10	(a) Notwithstanding Section 225.001(c), the portion of
11	11	Business U.S. Highway 281-S in the municipal limits of Premont [281
12	12	in Jim Wells County between its intersection with Farm-to-Market
13	13	Road 716 and its intersection with County Road 422] is designated as
14	14	the Lt. General Marc Cisneros Highway. The designation is in
15	15	addition to any other designation.
16	16	SECTION 2. Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code,
17	17	is amended by adding Sections 225.217, 225.218, 225.219, 225.220,
18	18	225.221, 225.222, 225.223, 225.224, and 225.225 to read as follows:
19	19	Sec. 225.217. TROOPER RUSSELL LYNN BOYD MEMORIAL HIGHWAY.
20	20	(a) The portion of U.S. Highway 290 in Waller County between its
21	21	intersection with the Waller-Harris county line and its
22	22	intersection with State Highway 6 is designated as the Trooper
23	23	Russell Lynn Boyd Memorial Highway. The designation is in addition
24	24	to any other designation.
25	25	(b) Subject to Section 225.021(c), the department shall:
26	26	(1) design and construct markers indicating the
27	27	designation as the Trooper Russell Lynn Boyd Memorial Highway and
28	28	any other appropriate information; and
29	29	(2) erect a marker at each end of the highway and at
30	30	appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.
31	31	Sec. 225.218. RANGER STANLEY K. GUFFEY MEMORIAL HIGHWAY.
32	32	(a) The portion of U.S. Highway 87 in the municipal limits of Brady
33	33	is designated as the Ranger Stanley K. Guffey Memorial Highway. The
34	34	designation is in addition to any other designation.
35	35	(b) Subject to Section 225.021(c), the department shall:
36	36	(1) design and construct markers indicating the
37	37	designation as the Ranger Stanley K. Guffey Memorial Highway and
38	38	any other appropriate information; and
39	39	(2) erect a marker at each end of the highway and at
40	40	appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.
41	41	Sec. 225.219. TROOPER MILTON ALEXANDER MEMORIAL HIGHWAY.
42	42	(a) The portion of Interstate Highway 35 in the municipal limits of
43	43	Hillsboro is designated as the Trooper Milton Alexander Memorial
44	44	Highway. The designation is in addition to any other designation.
45	45	(b) Subject to Section 225.021(c), the department shall:
46	46	(1) design and construct markers indicating the
47	47	designation as the Trooper Milton Alexander Memorial Highway and
48	48	any other appropriate information; and
49	49	(2) erect a marker at each end of the highway and at
50	50	appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.
51	51	Sec. 225.220. TROOPER ERNESTO ALANIS MEMORIAL HIGHWAY. (a)
52	52	The portion of Interstate Highway 2 in the municipal limits of
53	53	McAllen is designated as the Trooper Ernesto Alanis Memorial
54	54	Highway. The designation is in addition to any other designation.
55	55	(b) Subject to Section 225.021(c), the department shall:
56	56	(1) design and construct markers indicating the
57	57	designation as the Trooper Ernesto Alanis Memorial Highway and any
58	58	other appropriate information; and
59	59	(2) erect a marker at each end of the highway and at
60	60	appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.
61	61	Sec. 225.221. TROOPER HOLLIS S. LACY MEMORIAL HIGHWAY. (a)
62	62	The portion of U.S. Highway 377 in the municipal limits of Denton is
63	63	designated as the Trooper Hollis S. Lacy Memorial Highway. The
64	64	designation is in addition to any other designation.
65	65	(b) Subject to Section 225.021(c), the department shall:
66	66	(1) design and construct markers indicating the
67	67	designation as the Trooper Hollis S. Lacy Memorial Highway and any
68	68	other appropriate information; and
69	69	(2) erect a marker at each end of the highway and at
70	70	appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.
71	71	Sec. 225.222. TROOPER HOWARD JORDAN MEMORIAL HIGHWAY. (a)
72	72	The portion of U.S. Highway 67 in the municipal limits of Texarkana
73	73	is designated as the Trooper Howard Jordan Memorial Highway. The
74	74	designation is in addition to any other designation.
75	75	(b) Subject to Section 225.021(c), the department shall:
76	76	(1) design and construct markers indicating the
77	77	designation as the Trooper Howard Jordan Memorial Highway and any
78	78	other appropriate information; and
79	79	(2) erect a marker at each end of the highway and at
80	80	appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.
81	81	Sec. 225.223. TROOPER MARK FREDERICK MEMORIAL HIGHWAY. (a)
82	82	The portion of Interstate Highway 10 in Austin County between its
83	83	intersection with the Austin-Waller county line and its
84	84	intersection with State Highway 36 is designated as the Trooper
85	85	Mark Frederick Memorial Highway. The designation is in addition to
86	86	any other designation.
87	87	(b) Subject to Section 225.021(c), the department shall:
88	88	(1) design and construct markers indicating the
89	89	designation as the Trooper Mark Frederick Memorial Highway and any
90	90	other appropriate information; and
91	91	(2) erect a marker at each end of the highway and at
92	92	appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.
93	93	Sec. 225.224. TROOPER WILLIAM KOHLLEPPEL III MEMORIAL
94	94	HIGHWAY. (a) The portion of Interstate Highway 10 in Austin County
95	95	between its intersection with State Highway 36 and its intersection
96	96	with the Austin-Colorado county line is designated as the Trooper
97	97	William Kohlleppel III Memorial Highway. The designation is in
98	98	addition to any other designation.
99	99	(b) Subject to Section 225.021(c), the department shall:
100	100	(1) design and construct markers indicating the
101	101	designation as the Trooper William Kohlleppel III Memorial Highway
102	102	and any other appropriate information; and
103	103	(2) erect a marker at each end of the highway and at
104	104	appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.
105	105	Sec. 225.225. TROOPER BILLY D. HOWRY MEMORIAL HIGHWAY. (a)
106	106	The portion of Interstate Highway 35 in Williamson County between
107	107	mile marker 268 and mile marker 272 is designated as the Trooper
108	108	Billy D. Howry Memorial Highway. The designation is in addition to
109	109	any other designation.
110	110	(b) Subject to Section 225.021(c), the department shall:
111	111	(1) design and construct markers indicating the
112	112	designation as the Trooper Billy D. Howry Memorial Highway and any
113	113	other appropriate information; and
114	114	(2) erect a marker at each end of the highway and at
115	115	appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.
116	116	SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
