55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the disclosure of certain personal information
88 contained in motor vehicle records.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 730.007(c), Transportation Code, is
1111 amended to read as follows:
1212 (c) This section does not:
1313 (1) prohibit the disclosure of a person's photographic
1414 image to:
1515 (A) a law enforcement agency, the Texas
1616 Department of Motor Vehicles, a county tax assessor-collector, or a
1717 criminal justice agency for an official purpose;
1818 (B) an agency of this state investigating an
1919 alleged violation of a state or federal law relating to the
2020 obtaining, selling, or purchasing of a benefit authorized by
2121 Chapter 31 or 33, Human Resources Code; [or]
2222 (C) an agency of this state investigating an
2323 alleged violation of a state or federal law under authority
2424 provided by Title 4, Labor Code; or
2525 (D) a private investigator licensed under
2626 Chapter 1702, Occupations Code, who is employed by a public
2727 defender's office for an official purpose; or
2828 (2) prevent a court from compelling by subpoena the
2929 production of a person's photographic image.
3030 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
