| 7 | 7 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 8 | 8 | SECTION 1. Section 7.055(b), Education Code, is amended by | |
| 9 | 9 | adding paragraph (42) to read as follows: | |
| 10 | 10 | (42) The commissioner shall teach one week in each grade | |
| 11 | 11 | from kindergarten through 12th grade each fiscal year. The | |
| 12 | 12 | commissioner shall teach for one continuous week in each grade. The | |
| 13 | 13 | commissioner shall file a statement with the appropriate committees | |
| 14 | 14 | in the senate and the house of representatives having primary | |
| 15 | 15 | jurisdiction over the agency upon completion of the 13 weeks of | |
| 16 | 16 | teaching. The duty of the commissioner under this paragraph may not | |
| 17 | 17 | be delegated under Subsection (b) (5) of this Section. | |
| 18 | 18 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
