| 7 | 7 | | relating to a review of physician licensing standards of other |

| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. (a) In this section, "board" means the Texas |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Medical Board. |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (b) The board shall review physician licensing standards, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | including education requirements, of other countries to identify |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | those countries with standards comparable to those of this state. |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (c) Not later than December 1, 2024, the board shall submit |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | a report containing the results of the review conducted under |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Subsection (b) of this section to the governor, the lieutenant |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | governor, the speaker of the house of representatives, and each |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | standing committee of the legislature with primary jurisdiction |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | over the board. |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | SECTION 2. This Act expires January 1, 2025. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
