5	5	relating to the adoption by the Supreme Court of Texas of the
6	6	Uniform Interstate Depositions and Discovery Act.
7	7	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
8	8	SECTION 1. Before September 1, 2025, the Supreme Court of
9	9	Texas may adopt the Uniform Interstate Depositions and Discovery
10	10	Act as rules of civil procedure.
11	11	SECTION 2. (a) Effective September 1, 2025, Section 20.002,
12	12	Civil Practice and Remedies Code, is repealed.
13	13	(b) If the Supreme Court of Texas adopts the rules described
14	14	by Section 1 of this Act with an effective date before September 1,
15	15	2025, those rules supersede Section 20.002, Civil Practice and
16	16	Remedies Code, to the extent of any conflict.
17	17	(c) Notwithstanding the repeal by this Act of Section
18	18	20.002, Civil Practice and Remedies Code, if the Supreme Court of
19	19	Texas does not adopt the rules described by Section 1 of this Act
20	20	before September 1, 2025, the substance of Section 20.002, Civil
21	21	Practice and Remedies Code, as that section existed immediately
22	22	before the effective date of this Act, is continued in effect.
23	23	SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
