| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 2402, Occupations Code, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended by adding Section 2402.116 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Sec. 2402.116. REQUIRED NOTIFICATION REGARDING DESIGNATED |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | BICYCLE LANE. If the starting point or ending point of a digitally |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | prearranged ride requires the driver's motor vehicle or the person |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | requesting the ride to enter a designated bicycle lane, the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | transportation network company shall, at the time the driver |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | accepts the digitally prearranged ride, provide through the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | company's digital network to the driver and the person requesting |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the ride a notification: |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (1) that the starting point or ending point, as |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | applicable, of the digitally prearranged ride requires the driver's |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | vehicle or the person requesting the ride to enter a designated |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | bicycle lane; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (2) advising the driver and the person requesting the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | ride to be alert for bicyclists. |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | SECTION 2. Section 2402.116, Occupations Code, as added by |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | this Act, applies only to a digitally prearranged ride accepted by |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | a driver on or after the effective date of this Act. |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
