The fiscal implications of the bill cannot be determined due to a lack of data to estimate the prevalence of the new conduct outlined in the bill's provisions that would be subject to criminal penalties. The bill would prohibit a registered sex offender from going within 2,500 feet of the residence of a victim of any offense for which the person is subject to sex offender registration and would require the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and Texas Juvenile Justice Department to inform a person subject to sex offender registration of the prohibited conduct before release from incarceration.The Office of Court Administration and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice anticipates no significant fiscal impact.
