77 relating to educational materials regarding fentanyl substance
88 abuse.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 461A, Health and Safety
1111 Code, is amended by adding Section 461A.060 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 461A.060. FENTANYL SUBSTANCE ABUSE EDUCATIONAL
1313 MATERIALS. The department shall develop educational materials and
1414 publish the materials on the department's Internet website to
1515 educate parents and educators about:
1616 (1) the dangers of consuming illegally manufactured
1717 fentanyl;
1818 (2) recognizing the symptoms of a person experiencing
1919 an opioid overdose;
2020 (3) administering an opioid antagonist, as defined by
2121 Section 483.101, to a person experiencing an opioid overdose; and
2222 (4) recognizing the signs of opioid dependency in an
2323 adolescent.
2424 SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date
2525 of this Act, the Department of State Health Services shall publish
2626 the educational materials on the department's Internet website as
2727 required by Section 461A.060, Health and Safety Code, as added by
2828 this Act.
2929 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
