| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 140.006(c), Local Government Code, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (c) The presiding officer of a school district shall submit |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | a financial statement prepared under Section 140.005 to a daily, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | weekly, or biweekly newspaper published within the boundaries of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the district. If a daily, weekly, or biweekly newspaper is not |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | published within the boundaries of the school district, the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | financial statement shall be published in the manner provided by |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Subsections (a) and (b). The governing body of an open-enrollment |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | charter school shall take action to ensure that the school's three |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | most recent financial statements prepared under Section 140.005 are |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | [statement is] made available in the manner provided by Chapter |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | 552, Government Code, and are [is] posted continuously on the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | school's Internet website through a clearly identifiable link that |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | appears in a prominent place on the home page of the website. |

| 25 | 25 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
