| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 42.021, Local Government Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (e) Regardless of Subsection (a), the total gross acreage of | |
| 13 | 13 | the extraterritorial jurisdiction of a municipality may not exceed | |
| 14 | 14 | 50 percent of the gross acreage of the municipality. A municipality | |
| 15 | 15 | shall release extraterritorial jurisdiction as necessary to comply | |
| 16 | 16 | with this subsection. | |
| 17 | 17 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
