77 relating to the establishment of the On-Site Load Mitigation Grant
88 Program to mitigate the demand for energy on the electric grid.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subtitle B, Title 2, Utilities Code, is amended
1111 by adding Chapter 34 to read as follows:
1212 CHAPTER 34. ON-SITE LOAD MITIGATION PROGRAM
1313 Sec. 34.0101. DEFINITION. In this chapter, "grant program"
1414 means the On-Site Load Mitigation Program.
1515 Sec. 34.0102. ON-SITE LOAD MITIGATION PROGRAM. (a) From
1616 funds appropriated for the purpose, the commission shall establish
1717 a grant program to provide grants that mitigate the demand for
1818 energy on the electric grid by supporting the use of advanced
1919 nuclear reactors and cogeneration facilities by facilities that
2020 require large-scale loads of electricity.
2121 (b) The commission by rule shall establish eligibility
2222 criteria for projects to receive a grant under this section,
2323 including requiring that a project must:
2424 (1) reduce load on the electric grid; or
2525 (2) prevent additional load from being demanded from
2626 the electric grid.
2727 Sec. 34.0103. RULEMAKING. The commission by rule shall
2828 implement and administer the grant program.
2929 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
