88 AN ACT
99 relating to the renewal of a license to carry a handgun.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 411.185(a), Government Code, is amended
1212 to read as follows:
1313 (a) To renew a license, a license holder must, on or before
1414 the first anniversary of the date the license expires, submit to the
1515 department by mail or, in accordance with the procedure adopted
1616 under Subsection (f), on the Internet:
1717 (1) a renewal application on a form provided by the
1818 department;
1919 (2) payment of a nonrefundable renewal fee of $40; and
2020 (3) the informational form described by Subsection (c)
2121 signed or electronically acknowledged by the applicant.
2222 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to a
2323 handgun license that expires before, on, or after the effective
2424 date of this Act.
2525 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2626 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2727 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2828 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2929 Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
