A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to annual financial reports submitted by state agencies.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 2101.011, Government Code, is amended by
amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (b-1), (b-2), and
(b-3) to read as follows:
(b) A [Not later than November 20 of each year, a] state
agency shall submit an annual financial report regarding the
agency's use of appropriated money during the preceding fiscal year
to:
(1) the governor;
(2) the comptroller;
(3) the Legislative Reference Library;
(4) the state auditor; and
(5) the Legislative Budget Board.
(b-1) A state agency shall submit the annual financial
report required by Subsection (b) not later than November 1 of each
year.
(b-2) Notwithstanding Subsection (b-1), a university system
or an institution of higher education as defined by Section 61.003,
Education Code, shall submit the annual financial report required
by Subsection (b) not later than November 20 of each year.
(b-3) Notwithstanding Subsection (b-1), a state agency,
including a university system or an institution of higher
education, that obtains an audited financial report shall submit
the audited annual financial report in place of the annual
financial report required by Subsection (b) not later than December
15 of each year.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2024.
