| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 41.0052(a), Election Code, is amended to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (a) The governing body of a political subdivision, other |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | than a county or municipal utility district, that holds its general |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | election for officers on a date other than the November uniform |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | election date may [, not later than December 31, 2016,] change the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | date on which it holds its general election for officers to the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | November uniform election date. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
