55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the jurisdiction of the statutory county courts of
88 Grayson County in family law matters.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 25.0932, Government Code, is amended by
1111 amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (b) to read as
1212 follows:
1313 (a) In addition to the jurisdiction provided by Section
1414 25.0003 and other law, a county court at law in Grayson County has:
1515 (1) original concurrent jurisdiction with the justice
1616 court in all civil and criminal matters over which the justice court
1717 has jurisdiction; and
1818 (2) concurrent jurisdiction with the district court in
1919 family law cases and proceedings.
2020 (b) The district clerk serves as clerk of a county court at
2121 law in family law cases and proceedings, and the county clerk serves
2222 as clerk of the court in all other cases.
2323 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2424 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2525 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2626 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2727 Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
